The public open enrollment period to select a health insurance for 2021 from Healthcare.gov is from November 1st through December 15th .
Here are a few things to consider when looking for a plan:
Does my doctor participate as a “network” provider? Insurance carriers in the Healthcare.gov Marketplace typically work with only one major hospital system. If they do not, claims will not be covered unless for life threatening emergencies.
How will my prescriptions be covered? Medications are no longer categorized by generic or brand. They fall under “Tiers” within a drug formulary. Each insurance company’s formulary is different and out of pocket costs will vary.
Do I qualify for a premium tax credit? If an individual or family meets certain conditions, the Federal government may provide assistance in reducing the cost of health insurance premiums.
Where do I go if help is needed? You can call the Health Insurance Marketplace 24 hours a day, 7 days a week @ 1-800-318-2596. For personalized assistance, contact our office at (614) 326-7356. We will navigate all phases of the open enrollment process and enrollment with Healthcare.gov.
